Exploring Bukit Tinggi’s French Village: A Mixed Bag of Charm and Challenges

I recently embarked on a trip to Bukit Tinggi’s French Village, and let me tell you—it first felt like I was stepping into a Disney film. Imagine a whimsical setting that promised charm and nostalgic, but what  I encountered was a mixed bag of experiences. So buckle up; this journey had its ups and downs—like a rollercoaster in the Bahamas, but without the sea!

Upon arrival, the French Village was indeed a sight to behold and wonderful. It exuded a magical vibe that I had seen in countless TikTok videos and travel ads—a quaint slice of France nestled in Malaysia. The picturesque streets, nostalgic 90s architecture, and rolling hills painted a postcard-perfect picture. However, I quickly realized that the reality didn’t quite match the online hype. But lets not jump to conclusion, its only the start.

The weather in Bukit Tinggi was a wild ride. One moment it was gloomy, the next it was sunny—sometimes all within 20 minutes! It felt like experiencing Switzerland for a brief moment, only to be jolted back to reality that I was still in Malaysia. Be prepared for anything; an umbrella or raincoat is a must. These unpredictable changes only added to the unique charm of the place.

As I walked around, I couldn’t help but notice that it felt a bit run-down. Many of the shops were closed or had shuttered up entirely. There were plenty of signs, but they mostly pointed to places that were already closed for the day. It was a bit disappointing, especially since I was excited to check out the local shops.

I had imagined the fountain as a stunning centerpiece of elegance, but it appeared rather shabby in reality. To be frank, it was quite devastating. Standing there, I couldn’t help but wonder about the purpose of this neglected setting. On the bright side, at least the water was clean!

One of the highlights I was really looking forward to was the bakery. As a blogger, I always research places beforehand, and La Boulangerie had caught my eye with its solid 4-star reviews in Google. However, when I arrived at 4 PM, the shop was already closed. It was disappointing, so I found myself wandering to the nearest 7-Eleven instead—not quite the gourmet experience I had in mind! But I’m determined to try it next time. Stay tune for that guys.

Now, let’s push aside the sadness and dive into the high points! The VR gaming experience at Le VR Adventure was the highlight of my visit. Despite some technical hiccups at the start, once we were up and running, it was an absolute blast. It was my first taste of VR gaming, and it exceeded my expectations—definitely worth every penny! The VR adventure was a visit to a zombie apocalypse.

Overall, my visit to Bukit Tinggi’s French Village was a mixed bag. While there were some charming elements, the experience fell short in a few areas. While there were charming elements, the experience fell short in a few areas. However, the hillside views were undeniably breathtaking and made for some great photos. In short my camera roll  was happy. If you’re a fan of picturesque landscapes, you won’t be disappointed.

So, get your sundress up and get ready for that trip—it’ll make for an unforgettable experience. Just manage your expectations and be ready for a rollercoaster ride. Happy travels!
